Note from Gary Kusch: Several game articles, including the Montana Butte Standard, state that the Washington St game was a practice game. The article goes on to say that the two teams continued to practice for two additional quarters after the regulation four were played. This game score appears nationwide without any indication that it is anything but a regulation game. In fact, a later article in the Montana Butte Standard refers to Washington St's next game with Puget Sound as "the second of Washington St's early season 'breathers'", which sounds to me like it was a regularly scheduled game. Perhaps, the additional two quarters were what is referred to, but the article is clear in stating that the regulation quarters were practice periods as well. Anyway, it appears that Whitman counts this game in their records, but the Washington St web does not list it, nor do many other sources I have seen listing Washington St all-time records.

Note from Gary Kusch: My source lists a 6-48 loss to Washington St on 9/22 in Pullman not listed by you or the Washington St web or other sources. Several newspapers for 9/21 and 9/22 refer to this scheduled game. The Reno Evening Gazette of 9/24 says Washington St scrimmaged Whitman College without scores being kept, but the North Adams Transcript lists a 36-0 Washington St win. It appears that Whitman, in this case, does not list this game, as indicated by an article in the 3/20/1977 Walla Walla Bulletin on the history of Whitman football which appeared following the shutting down of the program. The article lists a 1-6-0 record for 1934 which is consistent with this game not being played. Your game with Puget Sound "B" looks suspiciously like a duplicate of the game with the varsity?I could find no reference to such a game. I note that without that game you also agree with the 1-6-0 record that the Bulletin article gives.
